Letter to "My dearest Nannie", 1864 March 24.

In a letter written 7 weeks before his death Stuart thanks Nannie for a note and jar of preserves; assures her she is a favorite cousin; quotes sentimental songs; looks forward to pleasant times when the war is over; notes that "as spring approaches the intervals of scouts, picnics battles and reviews are pleasantly intermingled"; invites her to visit; and teases her in regards to his staff officers Andrew R. Venable, Theodore Garnett, Robert H. Goldsborough and Heros von Borcke. With the letter is a non-contemporary 8 x 10 glossy copy of a photograph of Stuart.
